The Great Rewrite Has Already Failed

It's a failure already. Two months ago in February I announced I was going to do a Great Rewrite of this site into Go. I was ready to work. I pulled together all of the resources, had screens prototyped, and I redesigned the JavaScript version to simplify it for the rewrite. You may have notice, no more side bar, simpler navigation, cleaner generic color scheme, and fewer features. All done to make the rewrite easier.

And it failed almost right after I got started.

Bad Timing

Right after I reworked this site to be easier to rewrite the owners of the house I live in decided to sell. I rent, because buying a house in this economy is impossible. Sometimes when you rent the owners will decide to sell and you have to move. They gave me a few months to find a place, which also takes a long time in this economy. Since the JavaScript version of the site works I had to make the decision to not do a rewrite until later.

I most likely won't be able to attempt the rewrite for a while, so I guess that's a fail. I'll try it again maybe later in the year.

C++ Course is Going Again

On a more positive note, I've managed to break past my blockage on Learn C++ the Hard Way and in a few weeks managed to get first drafts of both Module 1 and Module 2. I'm now working Module 3 which will teach some intermediate topics necessary to do the final Module 4 that makes a little Terminal Rogue game.

I'll have another email in a few days laying out the new plan and what's been done so far, but feel free to go check it out and report back to me an problems you have.

I Entered the Dungeon Crawler Game Jam

I also entered the 2026 Dungeon Crawler Game Jam with a De-make based on my favorite game Kenshi. If you haven't played Kenshi I highly recommend it.

My game is an old school pixel art dungeon crawler set in the world of Kenshi where you play a low class robot (Skeleton) tasked with going under the Ashland Dome to close an access point that's letting enemies in. You can checkout my entry on my itch.io and you can see the official review of it on Youtube.
