What is "Art Guy Summer"

Streaming my programming adventures daily has radically changed my life for the better, and I feel it'd the same to my art practice. The idea of "Art Guy Summer" is mostly a joke, but also to motivate me to apply the same consistency and public expression that I've been doing with my code.

My goal is to stream painting every day for the month of July. I'm going to redo many of the exercises I did to learn to paint, and I'm going to use oils and pastels. My goal is to get to where I can reliably do self-portraits in both by the end of July.

New Youtube Channel: Painting4Programmers

I previously threw a few introductory drawing lessons on my programming channel but Youtube despises that. So I just made a quick art channel called Painting4Programmers where I can put my art videos.

The channel will be a mix of relaxing painting streams and art education aimed at programmers.

Nightly Twitch ASMR Art Streams

I'm also streaming my painting sessions on My zedashaw Twitch so if you need some late night sleeping audio come by. I have it setup so you hear my palette knife scraping the palette and canvas, ambient music, and I'm experimenting with whether I talk or not.

Two ASMR Style Painting Streams

I have two initial videos up without a lot of Youtube planning. They're mostly a test to find the format before July:

ASMR Oil Painting Session - Moka Coffee Pot Step 1 Drawing

In this one I do just the drawing, first in charcoal then in paint. The paint drawing is called a "grisaille." I forget what that means.

This is where I experiment with not talking. I do a bit of talking in the first 7 minutes, but you can use the timestamps in the description to jump to where I shut up.
